Georgia boots are a great alternative to purpose built motorcycle boots.

Another money saving tip from the WiseGuy!

Today, purpose built motorcycle accessories are plentiful. The popularity of motorcycling has has prompted a great number of accessories vendors to go to market with specialized boots for every type of motorcycle riding as we've already discussed. If you think you have to have a pair of boots called "motorcycle boots" to ride in, think again.

Georgia Motorcycle Boots

A tip by one reader named Ed from Orlando, FL, inspired this article about Georgia Work Boots being pressed into service as motorcycle touring boots. I particularly liked the tip, because I often find myself reluctant to give up my own comfortable pair of Wolverine work boots especially when I'm just going for a spin. And, as usual, I'm always looking to get the most for my money, so When Ed mentioned that his favorite pair of boots cost less than $100, it got my attention immediately!

Ed starts by saying that . . .

"Since I am a sport tourer with a wife, we travel to places where my boots do double duty. They have to protect me on the ride and need to be comfortable enough to spend hours walking around." Sometimes we get so focused on the ride, that we forget that we'll have to get off the bike at some point. The more comfortable your feet, the happier the rest of your body will be".

Here are some of the features of Ed's Georgia boots:

  • Over the ankle upper.
  • Steel toe - "The ANSI ones are qualified to have a VW run over your toes."
  • Tough, but flexible sole.

Ed goes on to say . . .

"A good work boot has to be comfortable for all day wear by guys who are on their feet all day, not walking the mall shopping (but you could if you want to)."

I would add to Ed's advice that you should make sure the sole gets good grip on the road. Oil resistance is also a plus.

These Georgia work boots get "no style points, but a good pair of boots for under a hundred bucks." Hey, I'd rather spend my money on shiny stuff anyway! :-)

If you are in the market for a new pair of motorcycle boots and share Ed's priorities of good protection, all day comfort and low price for your motorcycle boots, you might want to check prices on several styles of Georgia work boots at a great online boot store. There's no doubt that Ed has found a pair of motorcycle boots that's perfect for him. He concluded his message by saying that "when I get tired of these boots (since they do not look like they will wear out soon) I will look for another pair just like these."
